Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is beautifully located on the coast of the South Atlantic ocean, among small, steep, green hills

 One beach after another dot the coast. The most famous one is Copacabana.

We found a place to stay not far from the Copacabana beach and we, as many locals do, went for a morning stroll along the beach.

We did not find the city itself very attractive. Streets as pretty as this one are rather rare.

Similarly as in many other cities, old and new architecture share their place in the center of Rio de Janeiro.

Street life in Rio

Beautiful evening view of Rio de Janeiro from the "Sugar Loaf" hill. You can see the famous statue of the Christ the Redeemer on the highest peak in the background. 

Houses of Rio look like a concrete mixture poured into the valleys among the steep hills rising above the city.
