Many "cyclo" drivers do not have permits to live in the city and thus cannot obtain an apartment. Their "cyclo" is their only property. (Many of them are well educated people, but they fell in disfavor of the communist government.)
Hanoi
Old Quarter of Hanoi. In the 13th century, Hanoi's 36 guilds established themselves in what is now called the Old Quarter, each taking one street. The tradition mostly carries till these days.
The first Vietnamese university was founded in the Temple of Literature in 1076
The university was based on principles of Confucianism. Names of successful graduates are carved into steles carried on the backs of bixis (mythical tortoise-like animals).

In Vietnam, white skin is considered beautiful. Thus, women not only wear hats and long gloves, but also cover their faces. Sometimes they use a scarf decorated like American flag.
