We travel frequently and maintain websites with diaries and pictures from most of our trips. We also publish articles from our journeys occasionally. The travel section of our website contains links to our trips.

Most recent trips

Born in 1972 in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia at that time), we came to the United States in 1996. We both studied at The University of Iowa - Jitka got her MBA degree in 1999 and Marek his PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering (Medical Image Processing) later in the same year. We moved to Minneapolis where Jitka worked for NCS Pearson as Manager of Global Projects, but she stayed at home after the birth of our son Tomas. Marek worked there for Vital Images as Director of Clinical Applications Development. In the spring of 2007 we moved to Seattle, where Marek joined Microsoft Healthcare.

Outside of work we love sports, outdoors, mountains and travels. We have been traveling through the entire United States and camped and hiked in most National Parks. During our student years we visited Peru and Mexico and became interested in life in developing countries and in learning about other cultures. In 2003-2004 we have undertaken a nine-month expedition around the globe.
