Yangshuo

Li river - boat trips between Guilin and Yangshuo are big attraction for Chinese tourists, but getting out of favor with foreigners. .

Farmers harvesting rice - unlike in the mountains around Longsheng, in the valley there are two harvests a year.

Limestone peaks as seen through "Moon Hill".

The best way to explore the countryside around Yangshuo is on a bike. Luckily I managed to find one rental place that had newer bikes almost big enough even for myself.

Some of the villages in the country date back several centuries - according to one guide, these are Ming-dynasty houses from the 17th century.

Hong Kong

My guesthouse was a collection of several flats in one of these huge unattractive apartment buildings.

Hong Kong has nice green parks, beautiful modern buildings, as well as some older not-so-well maintained houses.

Construction is booming, though.

Man Mo temple nested among skyscraper apartment buildings.

Hong Kong has many antique shops with statues and paintings from all over Asia - many very beautiful.

"Central escalator" is 800m long and is a unique construction of this kind in the world.
