Kyoto 2

My second and last day in Kyoto. In the morning I headed early to the Imperial palace garden to secure entry permission for the same day. Despite having a substitute guide who brought the one-hour tour to 30 minutes, it was worthwhile seeing. From there I headed to Nishiki-koji market, where one can see and buy unbelievable variety of food. From there I headed for one of Kyoto beautiful walking tours that took me along the east edge of the city through many temples and gardens. I finished the walk by hiking up Diamonji-yama mountain. From there there are some of the best views of Kyoto. Souvenir hunting prevented me from staying till sunset and by 8pm I was boarding shinkanses back to Tokyo. In two and half hours I was at Tokyo main station. My rail-pass allowed me to board another Shinkansnen for a single-stop trip to Ueno station (some Japanese commuter had hard time understanding why somebody takes Shinkansen instead of subway to travel within Tokyo...) I reached the hotel and my 80 hours of exploring Japan were over.
