Niko is a small city in Niko National Park, about 2 hours by train north of Tokyo. It is famous for its enormous "collection" of shrines. I arrived Saturday night and stayed until Sunday early afternoon. Thanks to the jetlag, I was up at 5:30 and had a great chance for a quiet walk before the tourist crowds arrived. At 2:30, I was on my way to Kyoto.
