With Tomáš reaching 8 months, we have decided to try hiking vacation. We rented a cabin in Allenspark in Colorado, near the Rocky Mountains National Park. It was a long two-day drive through South Dakota (with refreshment stops in Badlands and Black Hills) and Wyoming to Boulder, where we stayed with our friends Barbara and Paul. We greatly enjoyed their company, their great house with beautiful views of the mountains, as well as a nice tour of Boulder. Our cabin in the mountains was a move several steps down, but hiking was perfect. Tomas enjoyed being carried in a child backpack and was admiring trees, leaves, mountains and rocks. This was not our usual hard-core backpacking, but very enjoyable hiking through some really beautiful areas of both the national park and the adjacent Indian Peaks wilderness.
