After visiting Yellowstone three times in summer, we wanted to see the beauties of this unique park in winter. Our original plans called for late February, but sudden changes in our business trip schedules forced us to speed up the plans and go in the second half of January. I do not know about February, but late January was an excellent choice this year. Everything - weather, snow, amount of tourists - was just right.

Following our traditional vacation scheme "do and see as much as possible", we spent five days in the Yellowstone park -- hiking the Lamar valley in the northern part (we saw wolves feeding on a killed elk in the valley), cross-country skiing along geysers and hot springs in the Old Faithful in the south of Yellowstone, and going for an overnight trip to Shoshone geyser basin -- followed by two days of downhill skiing in Big Sky, Montana.

Mentally refreshing, physically tiring, but overall beautiful, as usual....
